Water is more than just a simple compound. It is the essence that sustains all living beings on Earth. From the moment we take our first breath to the final moments of our existence, water intertwines with our lives, shaping our very existence in ways we often overlook.

Water covers about 71% of the Earth’s surface, mostly in seas and oceans (about 96.5%). Small portions of water occur as groundwater (1.7%), in the glaciers and the ice caps of Antarctica and Greenland (1.7%), and in the air as vapor, clouds (consisting of ice and liquid water suspended in air), and precipitation (0.001%). Fresh water makes up less than 3% of the world’s water resources, and just 1% of that is readily available.

Industrial use of water :

Without water, many companies and the products they provide would fail to exist. Water use is a fundamental commodity for nearly every step of the manufacturing and production processes around the world. Industry accounts for around 40% of total water abstractions. Yet, at the same time, many global companies have manufacturing facilities operating in water scarce parts of the world, with over two thirds of companies now reporting exposure to water risks.

Industrial water and wastewater is a by-product of industrial or commercial activities. Whether it’s the food we eat or the products we consume, water is required for nearly every step of production across a multitude of different industries. The resulting wastewater must be carefully managed.
